Frack Free Lancashire Protests from Tuesday 9th February 2016

Northern Powerhouse Protests, Thursday 25th and Friday 26th February

With a Climate Deal reached in December 2015 in Paris and just about every country on Earth banning fracking, why are the Tories beligerantly and ignorantly trying to get fracking ??

The story of Barton Moss and other sites such as West Newton in Yorkshire are yet to be told in the mainstream press

There are many people out there who don’t know what fracking even is, or any of the shenanigans of the last 5 years of fracking nonsense!

Anyone in the PEDL areas should do their research and join their local anti-fracking group

Where is the democracy in the Government handing out areas of land to frackers without even informing the people who live in that area ?

Anyone who thinks fracking is safe must have been living under a rock for the past 15 years!

How many Tory voting people in rural areas are about to find out that the Conservative landed gentry don’t actually give a frack about them ?

Fracking is eco-cide on a huge scale

Time To Review The Pollution PEDLers

The PEDL (Petroleum Exploration Development License) system is completely undemocratic and “awards” huge swathes of land to big polluters, despite local residents having no say and no real clue that their land is being offered to the petrochemical industry, and this archaic system needs urgent review

How would you like it if you were a land owner, a house owner or a resident in an are that had just been “awarded”, like some prize in a very odd raffle or lottery, to the petrochemical industry to do what they like with ? To drill under your house if they feel like it ? Without your knowledge or permission ?

Welcome to the great Tory Fracking Postcode Lottery – this scenario has just happened all over the UK, mainly in the North of England, where as Andy Burnham noted (without doing owt about it) “PEDLs are being handed out like confetti”

The Conservatives have basically declared war on the Labour voting North and the early signs of this was the arrest of the Labour Party politician Matt Bryan in Cheshire at Upton fracking site

The Labour Party have won every General Election in the North of England for many years, one has to wonder if fracking would be banned under a Labour government

Saccharin state stooges on the News have been attempting to sugarcoat the PEDL announcements by declaring that the PEDLs have been “awarded” to a number of big polluters such as Celtique, IGas, INEOS, etc, etc

So just how can they describe the PEDLs as being “awarded” ? Was there a red carpet public ceremony where we all gathered to whoop and cheer and eat a bit o’ buffet as our precious environment is given away to the fossil fuel industry ? What has the petrochemical industry actually done that’s so great to be “awarded” huge areas of OUR land ?

The PEDL system is an out-dated system from a by-gone era, and there is no excuse for this system to still be used, especially when the effects of the petrochemical industry moving into an area are likely to be harmful to public health and the environment, and we should be in an era of the precautionary principle taking precedent

In the age of the new politics, where information flows very quickly and, through technology we can all potentially have access to instant democracy there is no need for the government to hand out areas of land without the knowledge or permission of the residents of that area

We are now in the post-COP 21 era where the world has agreed to transfer to a Zero Carbon world as quickly as humanly possible

The petrochemical industry is becoming increasingly seen as the “bad guy” in humanities’ quest to transfer to a fossil free economy, and the PEDL system does nothing to inspire confidence in any of the big polluters

The Trafford Labour Party has gained significant mainstream publicity questioning the validity of the PEDL system

A more democratic system is required, especially as more of the areas that the petrochemical industry wants to work in are on flood-plains, high areas of emvironmental concern and in residential areas

It is time for an urgent review and cancellation of all PEDLs that have already been given out, and an urgent review of the PEDL system

Open and properly publicised public meetings, local surveys and local referendums should be implemented to bridge the democracy deficit and to give the people who the PEDLs are most going to affect a voice on whether the petrochemical industry should be allowed to operate in any particular area

It really is time for this Consernative Party, famous for its U-turns, to back-pedal!

J16 Upton Solidarity Saturday

Saturday 16th January 2016 midday-5pm

Upton Park, Wealstone Lane, Upton, Cheshire CH2 1HB

As many of you have heard, the site at Upton has been evicted, but with 85% of local residents in opposition to fracking, community resistance continues to grow. Now more than ever it’s time to get to Upton!

On Tuesday the eviction of the protection camp was resisted with peaceful defiance by campers and residents, using carefully prepared tactics and some improvised ones. Diggers were stopped on two occasions by locals who clambering up on them. The site was cleared in 9 hours and people from the area are now protesting at the entrance to the lane.

In a breach of agreements with a local councilor, access to the lane next to the contested field has been closed for 21 days, preventing community scrutiny of practices on site and causing serious disruption to residents. It’s suspected that throughout this period the area will be converted into a drill site in preparation for the arrival of the rig.

12.00 midday: We will be meeting at Upton Park (Wealstone Ln, Upton, Chester CH2 1HB, UK) where the legendary Veggies catering company will be providing us with hot lunch

1pm A colourful, carnival-style walk from the Upton Park to Duttons Lane

1.45 Speeches! From Tina Louise of the Lancashire Nanas, from someone who has witnessed the journey of the UK’s longest-running anti-fracking camp, from the local coalition group Frack Free Dee, and from Groundswell, a year of action for Climate Justice –

2.30 A colourful, carnival-style walk returning to Upton Park!

3.15 At Upton Park: Dancing, and live music from the UK’s Anti-Fracking Festive Folk ensemble

17:00 Coach Departure

Solidarity Saturday is a chance to come together from across the country and let the industry know what it can expect when it starts building drill sites. It’s taken them 18 months to get even close to breaking ground in the face of Upton’s resistance. This is an industry in the balence, and there’s everything to win. Let’s show them that we’ll stand together in the face of the new round of fracking licenses.

Weather on the day is due to be beautiful sunshine, but the fields around Chester are effectively flooded, saturated with 2-4cm of standing water. In a winter that shows the extreme weather we can expect from climate change, this is the perfect time and place to draw the redline against fossil fuels and corporate and government bullying

Labour Party Politician Arrested At Cheshire Fracking Site

Photo: Matt Bryan, Labour Party Councillor for Cheshire West, with Green Party Leader Natalie Bennett at Upton in Cheshire

Following from the arrest of Green Party MP Caroline Lucas at Balcombe fracking site in Sussex in 2013, Labour Party politician Matt Bryan has become the first Labour Party politician to be arrested at a fracking site, on Tuesday 12th January 2016

Chester Chronicle and The Guardian have featured the news but BBC NorthWest neglected to mention that a Labour Party politician had been arrested during their coverage of Upton fracking site !

Time To Draw A Redline Around Fracking

#BanFrackingNow #UptonSolidarity #Redlines #ShaleFail

Redlines are now the international symbol for the peoples’ declaration of lines that cannot be overstepped on the environment

Upton in Cheshire is the front-line for UK environmental activists and it is time to draw a redline around the Conservative Party’s latest #ShaleFail

Financial experts are declaring fracking to be a #PonziScheme, even Forbes were suspecting the fracking industry to be a Ponzi scheme more than five years ago

Mainstream financial writers are advising investors to steer clear of frackers such as IGas on basic economics, without the dodgy finer details being added into the equation
